After months of planning, we finally set off on a journey that felt like stepping back in time into stories carved in stone, and moments wrapped in ancient silence.
We boarded an overnight VRL train and reached Hospete by early morning. From there, a short auto ride transported us into the surreal world of Hampi a landscape scattered with giant boulders, ancient temples, and a calm that instantly slows you down. Our stay was tucked away amidst nature and rocks, the kind of place that feels hidden from the world. After freshening up, we explored Hanuman Temple, Shabri Caves, Anegundi Palace, and the serene Chintamani Math, wrapping up the day with rest and quiet under the stars. Day two began early with a hearty South Indian breakfast, followed by a visit to the sacred Virupaksha Temple and Kadalekalu Ganpati, which offered sweeping views of the region. We continued exploring Hampi’s royal and spiritual marvels Ugra Narasimha, Badavi Linga, Lotus Mahal, Elephant Stables, and more before ending the day at the iconic Vithala Temple, home to the musical pillars and stone chariot.
The next morning, we hit the road towards Badami, stopping at Aihole and Pattadakal along the way both places echoing ancient Indian temple architecture and heritage. After lunch and check-in at Badami, we rested for the evening. On the final day, we visited the awe-inspiring Badami Caves, where Hindu and Jain carvings etched into the red sandstone left us speechless. With our hearts full and cameras packed with memories, we checked out, enjoyed lunch, and headed to the station.
This journey through Hampi and Badami wasn’t just about monuments or temples it was about standing still in places where time doesn’t rush. It was about walking through ruins that still breathe life and listening to the silence of stone walls that have seen centuries pass by. If you're someone who loves history, raw landscapes, heritage, or just the joy of slow travel this route is a must do. And trust me, once you're there, you'll leave with more than just photos you'll take home stories.
